NIL: Continuously expanding

NIL Technology"After our participation in Venture Cup, we have received investments, grown our organization to seven people, sold our products in Europe, USA, and Asia and are continuously expanding our activities", Theodor Nielsen from NIL Technology says.

NIL enables the semiconductor industry to increase the power of their products by using a new generation of stamps for nanoimprint lithography (NIL). The technology is among other things used to define the transistors and wires in various semiconductor components e.g. computer chips.

The idea behind NIL Technology was born when Theodor was writing his master thesis and further developed while doing his PhD in Nanotechnology at the Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology (MIC) at DTU. The inspiration for commercialising the idea came through an entrepreneurship course at DTU:

"We found the process of building a business concept very exciting and decided to submit our work to Venture Cup. The results from the first round of Venture Cup were very stimulating and during the competition we became more and more enthusiastic," Theodor explains.

After winning Venture Cup 2004/2005, Theodor Nielsen and three of his fellow students from DTU have had great success with their idea and are now working full time in the company. This has caught the attention of investors both in Denmark and abroad, and NIL is currently experiencing rapid growth:

"Our plan is to expand our company further by developing our products, increasing the organization and thereby increasing our sales worldwide - of course the overall goal is to make a profitable company," Theodor says.
