Stirling is one of Denmarks most promising cleantech companies. The company offers biomass-fuelled energy installations based on Stirling engines which offer customers the ability to become self-sufficient with CO2-neutral electricity and heat from local fuel resources. In July 2009 Stirling received a 11m EUR in venture capital injection.
Stirling DK was established in 2004, following more than 15 years of research and development at The Technical University of Denmark led by professor Henrik Carlsen. Today, the company has commercial operating installations in Denmark, Germany, Austria, and Italy.
CEO Lars Jagd, educated at DTU, with an MBA from CBS, entertains us with the story of Stirling, in particular on how to convert an idea into an international company worthy of a capital injection of 11m EUR.
On Venture Cup TV, in "Jagten på den grønne ide - episode 4", (www.venturecup.tv) you can see Lars Jagd explain Stirling's business concept at their offices at Scion DTU.
