Venture Cup in the Regions

  • Sign up today and see who else is participating in your region.
  • Before 12 noon, Nov 19th, 2007, you submit an Idea Outline (1-3 pages) where you convince the Jury about the great potential of your idea.
  • Be sure to see the exact criteria we ask the Jury to evaluate your idea on.
What is a good idea?

What is a good ideaA good idea provides a solution to a customer's "pain". A solution that they are willing to pay you for. Such ideas come in many shapes and sizes:

  • Research-based ideas are typically an application of your final thesis or PhD project.
  • Theory-based ideas is where you use your education gained in school and come up with ideas to apply your knowledge in a novel way.
  • Out of the blue ideas have nothing to do with an area of study. Often the most brilliant ideas, these occur when you think of a novel solution to a problem that you have faced before.

Venture Cup has no requirements for which industries and academic areas ideas should come from - it is entirely up to you, as long as you keep the criteria in mind.

Submit your idea

To participate in the competition, you will need to sign up in the Entry Manager and create a team (even if you are the only person on your team). From your team home page, you can upload a word or PDF file (other file types are not accepted) of up to three pages until the deadline. Once the system has closed, Venture Cup will distribute eligible ideas (see the rules) to our confidential Jury who will read, grade and provide constructive feedback on your idea. The feedback will be released to your team via the system around early December, in time for your consideration before the Regional Final.

Nomination and Finals

The results of the jury round will be used to rank all ideas where the top ten in each region will be nominated for the final. At the final, each team will briefly present their idea in public to a panel of jury members who will be able to ask questions. The jury panel will then convene and decide on the top three winners of kr 10.000 at the final in each region.

The four additional kr 5.000 prizes in each region are the following:

  • Best cross-academic team (where people with different skills collaborate)
  • Best bachelor-level team (eligible teams have at least one bachelor-level student)
  • Best idea based on a service (i.e. not on an invention or a product)
  • Most original concept (the crazy category)

The finals will be held on the following dates:
